No, Mr. President, I think you should stand with me for once.

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Today the President emailed asking if I’d “stand with him” on climate change legislation. But from the day he took office, he’s demonstrated that anybody who stands with him ends up standing alone. I’m not going to be Charlie Brown to his Lucy. Call me when you’ve kept a promise, sir.

From Susan Orlean’s New Yorker blog: “Volcanic ash is as soft as baby powder, if baby powder were made of microscopic shards of glass.”

It’s somewhat amazing to me, the things that are tossed off when real writers blog.

Steve, you know I love you, but video chat is not one more thing. For starters, it was obvious when you mentioned the front-facing camera. Furthermore, if it’s Wifi only, you might as well use regular old iChat on a real computer. But most of all, I just don’t care about video chat. I have absolutely no need to see people I’m talking to, and I certainly don’t want to have to primp before a phone call. Ugh. Worst “one more thing” ever.

I pay for MobileMe. But I use Dropbox, because it just works and iDisk really, really doesn’t. This is insane.

Love,

I have so had it with top kills and top hats and loop-the-loops. THIS OIL IS KILLING THE OCEAN. STOP IT.

In Russia, they nuke leaking oil wells.
In America, leaking oil wells nuke you.

Really, Google? Now I hear you’ve started rolling out Froyo to Nexus Ones, but not MY Nexus One? Are you punishing me for complaining the other day? I bought the damn phone on launch day! Rassafrassa.

His job has been outsourced. Wow.

Update: More at the NY Times.

sssssseeeeeeeecrets.

Why, Google, can you not just give us a damn release date for Froyo? I realize it will be rolled out differently for different hardware, etc, but there is no reason you couldn’t provide a date when that will start, or at least a timeframe (how about “next month?”). Seriously. Apple may be incredibly insane about hiding projects before they’re announced, but once they announce them they at least PROVIDE A SHIPPING DATE. Criminy, people.

Migrating everything from crusty old Blogger makes this thing feel so shiny and new.

I still don’t think it will be enough to get me to post, though. In fact, most of the blogs I used to read are long dormant. Is blogging dead in the age of Facebook?

Goodbye, Blogger; hello, WordPress. Things will be in flux for a while, not that I’m likely to start posting.
